Being rockabilly isn't just about the clothes you wear, or how you style your hair, it's about attitude as well. There are a lot of things that make up the rockabilly persona, and a lot of styles within the genre. For example, Guys, are you a greaser...
A rockabilly...
A swinger...
although you all hang out together at the same bars and rockabilly clubs, what is your style? Are you more likely to carry a switchblade, a comb or a pair of dance shoes? These questions will determine your specific style, and help you decide how you want to present yourself to the world. Greasers can get away with a minimal wardrobe, because there is nothing more rockabilly than a white undershirt, jeans, motorcycle boots and a leather jacket, it's James Dean to the Fonz, it is the look of cool! A swingers wardrobe is a little deeper, you need loose fitting pants, cool dance shoes and a few button up shirts that breath easily, vintage isn't usually as important to the dancers as function, luckily if you look, you can usually accomplish both. A rockabilly wardrobe goes quite a bit deeper, any self respecting rockabilly guy is going to want to search for his clothes, and have a wide selection, suits, casual wear, swim wear, jackets shoes dress pants and jeans, if you want to do up the rockabilly, be prepared for a wonderful commitment to style and fashion. From Fat hand painted ties to skinny mod ties, from suspenders to studded belts, the accessories are seemingly endless.
