Basic Rockabilly Shirt

These shirts come in any color or size, and are great for everyday wear.  Some labels to look for are Towncraft, Arrow, Montgomery Ward, Mr. Dee Cee, Mr. Florida, Van Heusen, and Donegal.  Look for a straight cut waistline, horizontal button holes, loop button closure at the neck, and if you have a pattern shirt, the pocket should match the pattern of the shirt.  These shirts give anyone a great vintage look, which is the goal of a good rockabilly wardrobe.

There are millions of these out there, so you shouldn't have any trouble finding a nice used bowling shirt.  King Louie is a well sought after brand, and light colors tend to be more rare due to staining, if you find a nice white, off-white, pink or light blue bowling shirt, you may have a treasure on your hands.  The bowling shirt is another must in your rockabilly wardrobe.

Casual, light weight, durable, and easy to find.  Work shirts are a huge part of a rockabilly wardrobe.  Many rockabilly bands will logo new or used work shirts, or you can just pick up a used work shirt from your local thrift store.  leave the patched on, they make a good conversation piece.  These shirts will make anyone look rockabilly.

These shirts are identified by multiple pockets and buttons, hand stitching and a wider collar.  There is usually a vertical stitching pattern down the front, and some Guayabera shirts have hole woven into them.  These shirts are great rockabilly shirts, they are a little bit dressy, and great for a luau.

These are great for a rockabilly look, you can wear western shirts like this everyday.  Look for cowboy snaps, and look at the shoulders, is there a different cut to them where they come to a point in the front and one or many points in back, then you have a western shirt perfect for rockabilly wear.  There are hundreds of brands available, common brands are Wrangler, Levi's, and even Sears Western wear, a more desirable brand is H Bar C.  You should wear these western shirts with your favorite jeans and a pair of cowboy boots.

The western shirt is a staple of any rockabilly wardrobe.  These shirts go from gaudy, to outrageous, to unbelievable.  Try to push the envelope when you are selecting your fancy western shirt, this isn't something you'll wear to every rockabilly show, but when you do, you'll make a splash.  Look for multi-colors, custom stitching, interesting button pattern, and a style that is uniquely you.

Sometimes Cliché, but always fun, is the Hawaiian shirt.  There are tons of bland generic Hawaiian shirts from Target, K-Mart and Wal-Mart, try to pass these over for an authentic Hawaiian shirt.  Look for buttons made from coconut instead of plastic, and check the label if it's made in Taiwan, it's not authentic, if it's made in Maui, your looking at the real thing.
